Ivaylo's TK ANH Stunt
Welcome to the Work in progress (WIP) section and hello from the armoury team. Only armourers will reply/comment on build threads in here to keep things simple and tidy, stops mixed advice for example and if something is said that you want to refer back to you it will be easier to find. Have a read of the sticky threads which will explain how it all works.
You armourers will be Colin and Ross for this costume but you can find a list of all armourers in the Armoury team thread, so any of those can comment on build threads.
Good luck with your build

been trimming for the last couple of days… Took me some time to get used to the lexan scissors – 2 mm ABS is a bit trickier than 1 mm on the video. Have a question about the internal poppers:
I am watching Ross’ video and can’t figure out how to attach the internal poppers to the armour – time 1:17 –
Hopefully will be ready with the trimming of the armour tomorrow and will post some photos.
Thank you 🙂
Hi mate. you are making great progress and its coming together nicely. yes fit the kidney and the AB together so they act like a corset. trim the excess off the kidney and then add the notch to the lower half to line up with the Ab bottom and the edges of the butt plate. this will help you fir the rest. looking at the photos you need to raise the butt and drop the kidney so they line up. you can lose alot of the return from the top of the Ab if you like as it is not seen. yes the 2mm Acrylic capped ABS is the hardest to trim and you need to be careful when getting in the tight corners. the patch will be fine. just keep an eye on it when you troop. cheers Ross
no problem. there are 2 methods. either use the popper tabs (the plastic ABS strips in the box) or there is 1m of 30mm white webbing in the strapping kit. if you use the popper tabs then cut them in to squares and drill a hole in the centre. punch your snaps in to them so the back of the popper goes into the round recess. similarly if you use the webbing then cut it into 25mm bits and seal the ends with a lighter. punch a hole in the center and punch your snap to it. you can then glue these tabs into the armour and hold with clamps until glue dry. you can then make the appropriate elastics to snap on to these. i will upload a couple of photos. let me know if you need more 🙂
It’s me again.
Posting some photos of my shin assembly – decided to go with 24 mm strips (instead of 20) (left 13 mm instead of 11 mm during trimming) as the back is already tight on the top although there is lot of room for trimming below.
Would that be OK or better stick with the 20 mm? I know that there will be some 12 mm allowance by the half of the back strip.
Thanks in advance.
